London Buses route 243 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Wood Green and Waterloo station, it is operated by Arriva London. ==History== Route 243 commenced operating on 19 July 1961 between Wood Green and Holborn Circus as a replacement for trolleybus routes 543 and 643 with AEC Routemasters. Route 243 only ran Monday–Saturday, with route 243A provided the Sunday service. On 3 August 1985, the route was converted to one man operation with MCW Metrobuses. On 19 August 2000, route 243 was diverted at Theobald's Road to Waterloo station to replace ''Red Arrow'' route 505. Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TLs and Alexander ALX400 bodied DAF DB250LFs were bought to convert the route to low-floor. A Sunday service was introduced between Wood Green and Old Street to replace route 243A, this was extended to Waterloo on 9 November 2002. On 3 September 2005, route 243 became a 24-hour service.
